Terrafirma guard Cabagnot suffers torn Achilles

By Jonas Panerio

VETERAN guard Alex Cabagnot will be out for at least eight months after suffering a torn Achilles that he suffered in his team’s recent game against the NLEX Road Warriors in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup.

The 39-year-old was supposed to be one of the young team’s stabilizing forces after he was acquired during the off-season in exchange for Simon Enciso. Now, the left-handed guard faces a long and exhaustive recovery and rehabilitation period that will sideline him for the remainder of the Governors’ Cup and even next season’s all-Filipino tournament.

Terrafirma coach Johnedel Cardel said that Cabagnot has already gone through the same operation that the late Kobe Bryant and recently, Kevin Durant, went through.

Without Cabagnot, the Dyip dropped their recent match against the latter’s former squad, San Miguel, 100-88. They have lost three straight games in the import-laden tournament and fell to 1-4.
