Festive and fab

By Cassandra C. Poculan

‘TIS the season of holiday shopping, potluck parties, and sparkly soirees, which also translate to endless eating. Being as busy as Santa does not mean you can’t have both fashion and function so we asked a few of our readers what their closet staples are to celebrate (and do errand runs) in comfort and style. Whether it’s a look that cleverly conceals that growing middle or one that takes you from day to night affairs, here are some holiday how-to’s.

Rafael Ojales, 27

“For the holiday season, I would go for jewel-tone polo shirts and flannels, a pair of chino pants and shorts, and finish it off with a good pair of shoes that can complement the whole outfit. But the holiday season wouldn’t be complete without a smile. That tops off every fashion staple.”

“Definitely sweaters or pullovers. They serve both comfort and style not just for the holidays but for all seasons.”

“Switch things up this holiday season by going for ruffled or lace tops, wrap dress, midi skirt or wide legged pants in different textures and festive colors such as red, gold, green, and silver! If you’re like me who loves neutral tones, you can opt for metallic pieces as they’re known to be the neutrals for the holiday season. If you want to incorporate luxe texture and look festive at the same time, then go for velvet sartorial pieces. Lastly, don’t forget to accessorize to add personality to your outfits!”

“The holiday season is famous for three things — cold weather, a lot of eating and family gatherings. When it comes to weather, the slightest breeze gives me shivers that’s why I love to wear scarves. It’s perfect for the holiday season. When you combine eating and family gatherings you get the dreaded “You look like you gained weight” comments from every tita in the room. I like wearing baggy sweaters and all black OOTDs to hide the aftermath of the Noche Buena. Whatever outfit I am wearing, a confident smile always pulls everything together.”
