Sun Life celebrates 120th year in the Philippines
LIFE insurance company Sun Life of Canada Inc., reaches a milestone this 2015 as it commemorates its 120th year of operations in the country. The year-long celebration kicked-off in Manila last Jan. 28 and was brought to Cebu shortly after, starting with the memorandum signing with one of its brand ambassadors, globally-renowned designer Kenneth Cobonpue last Mar. 5.

“I’m very thrilled to renew my partnership with Sun Life,” shared Cobonpue.
He added that although he, a creative, and the company’s financial make-up, come from two completely different industries, both share the advocacy of financial literacy and creating things that will last for generations. That said, it was later revealed at the gathering that the celebration’s theme is centered on “legacy”.
Sun Life hosted a series of activities in Cebu, including the staging of a play dubbed “Legacy: The Sun Life Story”, which was written and directed by renowned thespian Floy Quintos, and starred by veteran performers Robert Sena and Isay Alvarez.
In the same week, the company also brought in one of its brand ambassadors, Piolo Pascual, for a thanksgiving show held at the Ayala Terraces. Mall booths were also stationed in which the company introduced Brighter Life Praxis, its very own board game that was designed to make financial literacy fun.
Through its foundation, Sun Life is also conducting Project 120, a community development program that includes the construction of 120 classrooms and donation of 120 fishing boats to areas affected by Typhoon Haiyan and 2013 Bohol earthquake.
Sun Life entered the Philippines in 1895, and established its Cebu operations in the 1960s. (FSE)
