Attending the momentous occasion were none other than RSSI’s chairman emeritus Bienvenido Tantoco Sr., chairman of the board Bienvenido Tantoco Jr., president Donnie Tantoco, chief executive officer Pierre Deplanck, distinguished business partners, patrons and clientele.

In lieu of the traditional ribbon-cutting, the event marked the celebration with a ceremonial “bread-cutting,” to signify the brand’s longstanding reputation for serving fresh items and for its one-of-a-kind service. The opening also coincided with the 33rd year of the brand’s presence in Cebu, as the first Rustan’s Supermarket opened in Mango Ave. in August 1, 1981.

Patterned after the flagship store in Makati, the new Rustan’s Supermarket now has a wider space that carries in it more than 16,000 products from high-quality local and international brands. Among its prized selection are Waitrose products from Great Britain, Casino products from France, an assortment of Japanese and Korean grocery items, and imported dairy and deli products that are flown-in every two weeks.

In a press interview held the day before, Rustan’s Supermarket Inc. vice-president Manuel Alberto said they will be introducing the personal shopper program in their Cebu stores soon. (FSE)
