“LIFE has shades of gray in the middle due to the existence of black and white.” Such was the principle of dualism behind the works of artists from Mindanao who held an exhibit called “Existence: A Southern Exposure Series” at Qube Gallery last month.
The artworks of the Tinta Artists of Iligan City and Memento Group of Cagayan de Oro City dealt with various dichotomies: the battle between good and evil, purity and innocence, love and lust, creation and destruction.
The exhibiting artists were Richard Bolotaolo, Renz Altubar, Chriz Gomez, Nonilo Romoso, Archie Bacalso, Melissa Abugaa, Maila Secuban, Tzaddi Esguerra, Farrah Estabaya, and Ivan Macaramban.
Their exhibit ran until August 8 in Qube Gallery at The Henry Hotel in One Paseo, Ma. Luisa Road in Banilad, Cebu City. (Bernadette Mae Abangan, USJ-R Mass Comm Intern)
