HOW many times have you enrolled in ridiculously expensive, non-refundable, non-transferable workout programs in gyms only to end up wasting your hard-earned money because you realized later on that you just do not have the time? Or actually going to class but eventually getting bored and you end up sleeping on the mat where you should be doing crunches? Or getting so tired after three hours of gym time that you reward yourself with, well, food?

Metafit2Apparently, you do not need the gym with all the heavy equipment to be fit. You just need your body for it to work at its best. It is all you need to improve your heart rate and strengthen the muscles.

“Make your body your own gym,” declares Alan Choachuy of the Biggest Loser fame. This was the concept behind the creation of Metafit, or Metabolic Fitness, which is on it seventh edition.

Everyone knows Choachuy and everyone knows his weight-loss story. After his success story in the television show The Biggest Loser, Choachuy made it his life goal to help people who are struggling with weight. And that was how Metafit came to be.

“When I got into the bootcamp, I told myself that should I succeed in losing weight, I will share this to others,” said Choachuy. “It will be a bootcamp in the mall,” said Choachuy who makes sure he allocates time for this program despite his busy schedule in his architecture practice.

Metafit not only helps participants in the workouts but it also has experts who guide them in the nutrition aspect. Just like in a bootcamp.

Choachuy said whether one is looking to shed weight, or if they are after a six-pack, if not trying to improve their endurance but just do not have the time to do so, Metafit is perfect for them.

Metafit3As of the moment, Metafit is done at the Persimmon Plus in Mabolo and at Parkmall in Mandaue.

Choachuy added that in their seven Metafit editions, they have proven results for participants doing this workout thrice a week for a month.

Choachuy said that in any kind of workout that one wants to try, the most important thing is having a support system.

“This journey to health is best if you have a strong support system. The Metafit group treats each other as family and we push each other to get to our goals,” said Choachuy.

He added that one of the things that pushed him to continue doing this program is seeing the positive results.

“I had a participant, who was sedentary. He was morbidly obese but he pushed himself to doing Metafit. At the end of the one-month period, from 360 pounds, he lost 25 kilos. He’s on his way to a healthier body and that inspires me,” said Choachuy.
