‘What’s your cold weather season OOTD?’

By Elisha Judy Tabaque

THOUGH the year is less than two months away from coming to a close, we’re still very much into the rainy season. That means the possibility of colder days and nights amid the unpredictable weather (one minute it’s raining, the next there’s blazing sunshine all over). With this in mind, it makes sense to stay comfortable while staying trendy, but how? Here are some ideas from our fashionista readers that will let you carry on a smart-chic rainy season OOTD.

“The Philippine weather could be quite unpredictable so my cold weather style usually revolves around layering. First, I pick out a top that would still make me feel comfortable even if the weather gets warmer over the course of the day like a short-sleeved shirt or a flowy blouse. I then pair it with pants or jeans for full coverage on my legs. To maintain variation in my outfits, I choose bottoms in different cuts, styles, and prints. I then top off my cold weather outfits with outerwear like a tailored blazer, a vest, or a cardigan so that I could just remove it in case the weather changes. For this ensemble, I chose one of my favorites which is this black ribbed short sleeved top which works well in keeping me warm but its sleeves are short enough to keep me cool if the temperature rises. I then matched my top with a pair of white skinny jeans to give this outfit a polished look. To top it all off, I chose to wear this long vest that’s thick enough to shield me from the cold weather.”

“It’s always comfort over style for me so I like to keep it simple but fashionable, even in the cold season. My top is an H&M sweater, just enough to keep me warm, paired with shorts (because nothing says “comfy” like wearing shorts!) which are also H&M. Completing the whole look are my Adidas shoes that are very lightweight, providing me a relaxed-fit feeling on my feet while strolling.”

“We’re always having fun in the tropics that we don’t usually prepare for some cold days. Pullovers are timeless wardrobe pieces that you can wear even in the heat. Having a good pair of Vintage mom jeans (Levis) and a knitted pullover (Forever 21) are my fave combo for the cold days ahead. It can definitely get you through the cold breeze, makes you feel warm and cozy while still looking chic. Plus, don’t forget to pair it with your fave boots.”

“During cold weather season, the aim is to stay warm and comfortable and being able to still look cool and nice. My go-to cold weather piece is a bomber jacket. You can never go wrong with a bomber jacket. Just put on any shirt and pants and a bomber jacket and there you go. Don’t let the cold weather stop you from looking nice and cool.”
