Over 18,000 Covid cases reported anew; 68 new deaths

THE Department of Health (DOH) announced 18,638 additional coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the country, along with 68 new deaths.

In its 4 p.m. Friday, January 28, bulletin, the DOH said the 18,638 new cases brought the country’s total caseload to 3,511,491.

The positivity rate stood at 34.6 percent, based on the 62,671 samples tested last January 26.

The 68 new deaths, meanwhile, raised the death toll to 53,801.

This means that the case fatality rate remained at 1.53 percent.

The DOH also reported 13,106 additional recoveries that pushed the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 to 3,226,032.

The recovery rate stood at 91.9 percent.

Less the deaths and recoveries, the country now has 231,658 active Covid-19 cases, of over 219,000 are mild cases and more than 7,000 have no symptoms of the disease.
