5 Metro Manila LGUs remain at ‘very low risk,’ 2 at ‘moderate risk’

THE number of local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila currently at “very low risk” from coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has reduced to five, even as two cities climbed to “moderate risk” classification.

In its latest Covid-19 Monitoring Report for December 21 to 27, the independent Octa Research bared that the cities of Manila and San Juan are now at “moderate risk” classification.

This was after Manila and San Juan recorded “critical” levels of reproduction rates of 1.57 and 1.82, respectively.

Still at “very low risk” classifications are Pateros, Valenzuela, Quezon City, Pasig, and Taguig.

These LGUs have continued to be at “very low risk” in terms of their reproduction rate and average daily attack rate.

As for the remaining 10 LGUs, the Octa noted that they have been classified as “low risk.”

The 10 are Caloocan, Malabon, Marikina, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, Mandaluyong, Makati, and Las Piñas City.

A week earlier, 15 of the 17 NCR LGUs were still at “very low risk” classification, while the other two were at “low risk.”

Also for December 14 to 20, the National Capital Region (NCR) was still at “very low risk” classification.

For the past seven days, NCR rose to “low risk” classification as its reproduction rate climbed to 0.92, which is considered “moderate,” from 0.48 in the previous week.

The region’s positivity rate also went up to 1.7 percent, from 0.6 percent a week earlier.

The average daily attack rate also went up to 0.89, from 0.55 per 100,000 population. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
