FILIPINOS are known to be rice-eaters because a meal isn’t a meal without it. But a sign of the times is that our eating habits are slowly changing. Eating a meal sans rice is not a problem these days as burgers are fertilizing today’s culinary landscape. One order of a thick burger already has the carbohydrates and protein we need to fill our hungry stomachs. Burgers come in many different variations but one thing that’s common among them is how easy they are to devour within minutes. It’s no trouble spotting burger places in town too for they have grown in number over the years. We list down 13 of the city’s best.

The Luncheonette
Location: Robinsons Cybergate; SM City Cebu

This diner is bringing it old school with a retro-themed counter that takes every customer back to traditional American classic. The Luncheonette is best known to serve juicy hot dogs, cheesy melts and of course, mouthwatering griddled burgers that are available for order the entire day. One dish that’s famous on its extensive menu is the The Luncheonette Burger. This piece of savory delight is made with one-third pound Angus beef plate and grass-fed chuck patty that’s griddled to perfection and served on a buttered bun.

Casa Verde
Location: #69 Lim Tian Teng St., Cebu City; The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu; Asiatown IT Park, Lahug; SM Seaside City Cebu

Casa Verde’s the Ultimeat Burger is the absolute baddest if it’s the size we’re talking about. This 12-inch, two-layer behemoth is stacked high with steak, eggs, pulled pork, bacon, chicken fingers and tenderloin beef patties! The dish is so huge that it’s good for 10 people. If that’s not enough, the burger is even served with cheesy nachos and free drinks.
