Health is vital to everyone and the pandemic has opened up a realization that health is truly our wealth.

With this, the City Government of Victorias has inaugurated its new Victorias City Health hemodialysis center recently to provide such vital treatment to those suffering from kidney ailments.

This is a priority health project of Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca before he completes his full 3-term as Mayor of the city that aims to serve Victoriahanons who need dialysis starting January of next year.

Palanca said that the city government feels grateful and blessed for the dedication of the new place for healing, saying, “Let it save or prolong lives, let it save a lot of lives.”

The center is spearheaded by City Health Officer Dr. Richard Garlitos with Head Nephrologist Dr. Myla Varon King; Dr. Rosevelle Antivo (Internal Medicine); Dr. Laarni Guanzon (Nephrologist); Dr. Michelle Dela Paz (Internal Medicine); Dr. Rizalyn Medez (Internal Medicine) with Rowena Gulmatico (Head Nurse); Marie Grace Aventura (Staff Nurse); Maybell Canlas (Staff Nurse); and Efren Canete (Renal Technician).

The hemodialysis staff members are Medical Records Officer Cristine Joy Calida; Receptionist/Computer Operator Frances Kyth Hibionada; and Ambulance Driver Dante Linga Jr.

The clinic, with four dialysis machines donated by the Department of Health, shall operate from Mondays to Fridays on two hemodialysis shifts daily.

It can accommodate three patients simultaneously per session, six per day, and about 30 patients per week.

All interested patients shall be screened and necessary requirements, and registration in the unit shall be arranged by the center’s staff.

Mandatory laboratory tests shall be required and each patient shall only be allowed one session per week and have their next session augmented at other dialysis units to accommodate more Victoriahanons patients.

The nephrologist will be there twice a week but the internal medicine doctors will be present for the entire session to manage emergencies.*
