Below 10,000 active cases for 9th straight day

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, December 26, 2021, reported below 10,000 active cases for the ninth straight day, with only 433 cases added to the case count.

The DOH case bulletin on Sunday said active cases in the country were at 9,522, or only 0.3 percent of the total infections in the country.

Of the active cases, 3,574 were mild, 3,339 were moderate, 1,777 were severe, 458 were asymptomatic, and 374 were critical.

The health department said the country’s total caseload has increased to 2,838,640.

The positivity rate of the country remained low at two percent, with 21,116 tests conducted on December 24.

The DOH said 65 patients died due to the disease, bringing the death toll to 51,200.

The case fatality rate stood at 1.80 percent.

The DOH also reported 283 recoveries on Sunday. This brought the total individuals who recovered from the disease to 2,777,918 or 97.9 percent.

As for the healthcare utilization rate, 17 percent of intensive care unit beds, 20 percent of isolation beds, 10 percent of ward beds and 10 percent of ventilators have been utilized.

The DOH has reminded the public to get vaccinated to protect themselves and people around them from Covid-19.
