Davao City exceeds daily target for Bayanihan Bakunahan

DAVAO City was able to exceed its daily target for vaccinated individuals for the second round of Bayanihan Bakunahan: National Vaccination Day, which is being held from December 20 to 23.

“Ang atong (Our) daily target for this three-day event is 12,658,” Davao City Covid-19 Task Force Dr. Michelle Schlosser said during an interview with Davao City Disaster Radio on Wednesday, December 23.

She said 20,040 individuals were vaccinated on December 20 while 12,922 were vaccinated on December 22. A total of 32,962 have already been vaccinated for the first two days of the Bayanihan Bakunahan.

“That’s more than expected target nato (of our target),” Schlosser said.

The city said in a statement that 5,674 individuals received their first dose on Monday, December 20, while 13,498 received their second dose, and 868 received booster shots.

On the second day, 3,395 were administered with the first dose, 8,673 received their second dose, and 854 received booster shots.

“We aim for 100 percent on Christmas,” said the spokesperson, encouraging Dabawenyos to get their vaccine in time for the holidays.

As of December 20, Schlosser said that a total of 1,230,083 individuals in Davao City received their first dose, while a total 1,088,457 for the second dose and 15,947 for the booster shots.

“For our herd immunity, ang atong target lang (Our target) is 1,299,000. For us to be able to get more than 1,100,000 sa atoang (for those) fully vaccinated, that is something we are very proud of,” Schlosser said.

The spokesperson also said that vaccination hubs in the city will remain open even after the Bayanihan Bakunahan event to accommodate walk-in vaccination appointments.

Meanwhile, Schlosser said that they already started giving booster shots to priority groups A1, A2, and A3.

She encouraged those who belong to these priority groups to visit the vaccination sites and get inoculated to boost their protection against Covid-19.

The health official said that vaccination hubs are open for walk-ins.

In an interview with CIO, Schlosser bared that they have no update yet on the schedule of the booster shots for the general population but assured that they will announce it once guidelines are handed down. ICM with CIO
