City tells Dabawenyos be vigilant after receiving bomb threats

The Davao City government warned the public to be vigilant after receiving two bomb threat reports, which are currently being investigated by the security cluster.
The city issued a notice on Tuesday morning, December 21.
“There are two bomb threats currently investigated by the security cluster of Davao City,” the local government said in a Facebook post.
The advisory comes days before Christmas Day.
“Violent extremism is a scourge around the globe and Dabawenyos should, at all times, remain vigilant,” the city said.
“On the other hand, threats may be politically motivated particularly from people who have evil intent,” the city added, which they referred to the upcoming 2022 national elections.
The local government told the public to report immediately information about planned terror attacks and report any suspicious activities.
Task Force Commander Colonel Darren Comia told SunStar Davao that they received the terror threat reports on Monday, December 21. But they are still investigating it.
“We are not taking it lightly. Every threat kasi, we take it seriously, and we are currently investigating that matter,” Comia said.
He added that they wanted to get the person who reported this.
The official said that such a report might only “create panic” to the public, but he, nevertheless, urged the public to be vigilant in monitoring suspicious individuals especially in public places.
Comia also urged the public to practice the Culture of Security, wherein anyone who has information on possible security threats is urged to immediately report it to authorities for immediate action.
As of writing, the Task Force official said there is “no imminent threat” in the city, but they will strengthen their further monitoring, especially in the city’s border control checkpoints. RGL
