IT CAN be a challenge to come up with plans for Valentine’s, especially with cost in mind. To help you out, here are some ideas on where to eat and what to do on the 14th, whether you’re on a budget or in the mood to splurge:

Eat to your stomach’s content.

There are cheaper buffets around the city but if you want value for your money, Vikings is a great choice, with its impressive variety and selection that doesn’t compromise quality and taste. I suggest getting a reservation days ahead as Vikings is no stranger to a long waiting list, even on regular days.

Get a massage.

Has thinking about hump day got you stressed out? Forget the work woes for a while and get a relaxing massage. A full body massage at Thewi Thai Massage costs only P200 for an hour, but if you’re willing to shell out a bit more, you can get the two-hour massage.

Drink your greens.

This year, Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday happen on the same day, so for those who want to squeeze in a quick date sans meat, go to Mooshi Green Bar. This juice bar is known for their healthy drinks but they also have power bowls, sandwiches and guilt-free snacks if you want more than just a smoothie or juice.

Cook at home.

Aside from being probably the most economical option for date night, this is also a chance for you to show off your skills in the kitchen and impress your guy or girl. Plan what you want to cook and do the grocery shopping ahead. Robinsons Selections at Robinsons Galleria Cebu has a comprehensive range of products and isn’t as crowded as other supermarkets.

Enjoy a fancy dinner.

Indulge in a sumptuous Latin-Mediterranean dinner at No. 9. This quaint restaurant’s rustic yet sleek interiors make it the perfect place for a romantic date. Its well-curated menu includes tasty tapas, plates for sharing such as the signature Fideo Negro noodles, as well as desserts. Savor each bite and appreciate the different flavors.

Watch a movie.

Treat yourself and your date to a lavish cinema experience at the Director’s Club Cinemas at SM Seaside City Cebu. Just sit back (recline your seat according to your liking), have your bowl of popcorn ready and enjoy the movie with your loved one.

Crimson Resort & Spa Infinity Pool

Go on a staycation.

For resorts, you might want to check out Crimson Resort and Spa in Mactan. Take a dip in the pool, chill by the beach, get a massage at their award-winning spa — there are so many ways to relax and unwind at this luxurious resort. A staycation will require the use of vacation leave credits but you can also move your valentine’s celebration to the weekend so you don’t have to skip work.

Shop ’til you drop.

If you’re the type who can’t be bothered to think of a gift for your significant other, then just let him or her pick a gift at SM Seaside’s The SM Store. From apparel, shoes and bags to beauty products and gadgets, The SM Store has definitely got it all for your date.
