WHENEVER I write about food, I notice that what leaves a more lasting impression is not just how delicious the food tastes, but more so, the entire experience of the meal.

As a burger lover, I cannot stick to just one burger because I believe each burger is unique to each other. To me, there are several categories such as gourmet burgers, budget burgers, simple burgers, and fast-food burgers. And in each of those categories, there will always emerge a winner or two.

One of the biggest winners is Burgaholic. For those of you who have not tried their burgers yet, run to them today. Located along Ma. Christina Extension in Capitol Site, this literal hole in the wall is grilling burgers at their own garage. A small tarp, store sign that is hung by their gate and an aromatic smoking grill will announce its presence in the quiet neighborhood.

The Classic Burger is only P100! That is a 100 percent sirloin beef patty, no extenders! Throw in some yummy, flame-grilled bacon for only P20 and you’re all set. When you’ve brought with you a healthy appetite, get my usual – the Quarter Pounder for only P175 and with everything on it – bacon, jalapeños, their to-die-for mushroom cheese sauce, their special secret sauce, and fresh veggies! And for those who are really hungry, they also have the Half Pounder burger for only P195.

I’m salivating just writing about their burgers right now. I remember there was one week I was there for four nights in a row!

Juan Ismael Arceo is the owner and the creator of the famous Burgaholic burgers. We call him Budji. He says that the secret to his delicious burgers is the use of premium, fresh ingredients everyday. In their kitchen, there is no such thing as left-overs. But if you ask me, the secret to their burgers is the love that goes into each of their burgers.

Budji, his mom Tita Nancy, and his Dad Tito Clem makes the burgers with so much passion that each burger is full-packed with positive energy and so much deliciousness that will make you crave for more!

On another note, I would like to congratulate Juan Ismael Arceo for being Pagcor’s 2014 Employee of the Year! Good job, Budj!
