Distrito cries foul over removal of tarps

FORMER councilor and now Bacolod City vice mayoral candidate Caesar Distrito cried foul over the alleged removal of his tarpaulins in several areas in the city.

Distrito said he saw other candidates putting up their posters in some areas, including one with the slogan “Halong Bacolod” on it.

He said other national candidates’ tarpaulin are also being hung in other areas, too.

Distrito wondered why only his tarpaulins were being operated and removed all over the city.

The former city councilman also wondered why his posters were “removed” on Christmas Day.

“Am I that important to get the necessary attention that warrants overtime work by the City Legal Office?” he asked.

Distrito stressed that “hopefully, whoever ordered the removal of his tarpaulins should be fair.”

He added that they should “not utilize and abuse the powers of the city government for their own political interests.”

Last month, some tarpaulins of Distrito were also removed at the Bacolod Public Plaza because of lack of permit.

The City Legal Office has no reply yet regarding the matter.

Distrito is the runningmate of former Third District congressman Alfredo Benitez who is challenging Mayor Evelio Leonardia.*
