Lex in the City

THE theme for this particular episode we’re shooting for Alexis On The Prowl is Places With A View. We decided to go to two places with particularly special views, one, of the city and the other, of the sea.

We did Cowrie Cove at Shangri-la Mactan first and tried their magnificent seafood plates from appetizer, soup, and main course. You’ll see it in the episode that is soon to be released on channel 30 on Sky Cable. We have Chef Paolo to thank for this wonderful dinner especially when he was busy preparing a feast for APEC VIPs at the same time.

After the shoot, the entire crew was invited by Fiona Escandor and Monica Tan to Acqua, Shangri-la’s Italian outlet by the pool. There we had some delicious Italian offerings like salad, pizza, pasta, and gelato. The Carbonara was exceptional! As usual, the service was impeccable. After all, one can expect no less from the Shangri-la. Thanks, guys!

A couple of days after, the entire crew went up the hill to Mr. A, a restaurant with a view, close to the hearts of many Cebuanos (in my generation, at least). We had many fond memories of this place as an adolescent who wanted to drive everywhere his car and new driver’s license could take him. This was one of those places. And even when quite a lot of things have changed in Mr. A, it remained all too familiar, and the food could not ever be better.

I especially loved the new Mr. A Pizzeria. The Prosciutto-Arugula Pizza was so good while the Spaghetti Al Tartuffo was to die for. And now I know why their Chicken Lollipop is a best seller. You’ll find out when you try it.

It was such a perfect afternoon to hang out in a place with a pretty good view of the “hazed” city. Blah…

On days when driving to Mr. A is too much for you, try ordering through Food Panda, you’ll get to try their delicious food at comfort of your own home. But when trying their Mr. A Sisig, make that drive, eat it out of the sizzling plate like you’re supposed to and enjoy your food with a nice breeze and the breath taking view of your beloved city.
