SWU holds media night
SOUTHWESTERN University and PHINMA Education officials and personnel hosted the media for a night filled with great music and even greater food.
Held at the Blue Elephant Sky Lounge in Apple One Tower last Aug. 26, the Media Appreciation was graced by Phinma Education President and SWU chair of the board Dr. Chito B. Salazar. In his welcome address, he mused on how PHINMA is dreaming of making SWU their crown jewel and making it equal to any university in Manila. “Cebu has so much room for expansion and it can be a greater academic hub,” said Dr. Salazar.
Southwestern University was acquired by PHINMA Education last May 6, 2015. The first medical school outside of Manila is now the newest member of PHINMA’s education network, namely: Araullo University (2004), Cagayan de Oro College (2005), University of Pangasinan and University of Iloilo (2009). For over 10 years, they have changed the lives of 52,000 students and awarding 17,685 scholarships with a vast network of 1,326 great teachers and 454 dedicated school operations personnel.
As of today, SWU is offering 15 tertiary academic programs: College of Medicine, paramedical courses like Medical Technology, Nursing, Physical Therapy and Pharmacy, graduate school programs, business courses and basic education at the main campus at Urgello and the south campus at Basak. (DRB)
