BCPO approves 73 designated community fireworks display areas

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has designated 73 vacant lots, covered and basketball courts, and other open spaces as community fireworks display areas, its official said.

Lieutenant Liberty Indiape, assistant public information officer of BCPO, said Tuesday, December 28, that of the 61 barangays, only 49 have submitted the lists of fireworks display areas.

These include Barangays 1 to 8, Barangays 10, 12, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 40, and 41.

Aside from these, Barangays Mandalagan, Bata, Banago, Estefania, Villamonte, Taculing, Alijis, Alangilan, Granada, Vista Alegre, Singcang-Airport, Tangub, Pahanocoy, Punta Taytay, Sum-ag, Cabug, Handumanan and Felisa also submitted their lists.

Indiape noted that some of the barangays submitted more than two identified fireworks display areas.

Only pyrotechnic devices, which utilize visuals such as colored lights, flames, smoke, sparks and flashes, are allowed within the house.

Indiape said all the station commanders were already directed to monitor their areas of jurisdiction and to arrest those who lit pyrotechnics outside the designated areas.

She encouraged the public to report the name of the violators or they can take pictures and videos and send it to the police.
