AROUND P100,000 worth of fireworks was confiscated by personnel of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) before and after Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2021.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Clark Arriola, chief of the CCPO’s City Intelligence Unit, said aside from their fireworks confiscation operations, the Christmas celebration in the City was orderly and peaceful especially with majority of the residents still reeling from Typhoon Odette.

Arriola said upon the orders of CCPO Director Col. Josefino Ligan, they initiated anti-firecracker operations as a way to prevent possible injuries and even fires from occurring during the holidays.

Arriola said they will continue their operations until the New Year celebration on Jan. 1, 2022.

He also urged the public to avoid using firecrackers to prevent fires from occurring.
