PH Covid death toll now at 51,000
THE Department of Health (DOH) reported Friday, December 24, more than 300 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the country, along with almost 70 additional mortalities that raised the death toll to over 51,000.
In its 4 p.m. case bulletin Friday, the DOH said there were 310 more cases logged, while the positivity rate of the country stood at 1.4 percent, based from the 28,561 tests conducted last December 22.
The Philippines currently has a total of 2,838,032 Covid-19 cases.
The DOH also reported 69 new deaths, bringing the total number of patients who succumbed to Covid-19 to 51,050.
The case fatality rate stood at 1.80 percent.
Aside from the new cases and deaths, the DOH also logged 227 new Covid-19 recoveries.
This brought the number of Covid-19 survivors to 2,777,661, which accounts for 97.9 percent of all confirmed infections in the country.
The active cases remained at 9,321, or 0.3 percent of the country’s total caseload.
The DOH said 3,382 of the active infections have been considered as moderate cases, 3,295 were mild, 1,795 were severe, 474 were asymptomatic, and 375 were on critical condition.
The health department said two laboratories were not operational, while five others were not able to submit their output last December 22. These laboratories contributed on average 6.9 percent of all samples tested and 3.1 percent of all individuals who tested positive for the virus in the last 14 days. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
