PH logs 261 new Covid-19 cases, 122 deaths

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, logged 261 cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In its 4 p.m. Wednesday case bulletin, the DOH said the new coronavirus cases raised the Philippines’ total caseload to 2,837,784.

The positivity rate of the Philippines was at 0.9 percent out of the 29,577 tests conducted on December 20.

The DOH also logged 122 deaths, raising the country’s death toll to 50,916. This meant that 1.79 percent of all cases died due to Covid-19.

A total of 395 patients also recovered from the disease, bringing the total recoveries to 2,777,630 or 97.9 percent.

The Philippines also recorded 9,238 active cases or only 0.3 percent of the total cases.

Of the active cases, 3,153 cases were mild, 3,400 were moderate, 1,801 were severe, 377 were critical and 507 were asymptomatic.

As for the healthcare utilization rate, 20 percent of intensive care unit beds, 24 percent of isolation beds, 11 percent of ward beds and 10 percent of ventilators have been utilized.

The health agency also said two laboratories were not operational on December 20. Twelve laboratories also failed to submit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data over the past 14 days, the contribution of these 14 laboratories was approximately 2.8 percent in all samples tested and 2.3 percent in all positive individuals.
