THE Philippines has recorded another Omicron variant case, bringing the country’s total to three, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday, December 20, 2021.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the latest case is a 36-year-old returning Filipino from Qatar.
The person arrived at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport on November 28.
He was asymptomatic and had undergone a facility-based quarantine upon arrival in the country.
His sample was collected on December 4, as part of the country’s safety protocol in which the test yielded positive results.
“He completed his isolation in Cebu before traveling back to Cavite, his hometown, and immediately underwent home quarantine,” Vergeire said.
The person was retested and tested negative for coronavirus on December 19.
Vergeire said the latest Omicron cases are currently under home quarantine in Cavite.
She said they have already identified three close contacts who are currently under home quarantine. They all tested negative for coronavirus. (SunStar Philippines)
