Pure decadence

THREE flavors were staring right back at me the night I was introduced to Carmen’s Best Ice Cream: Salted Caramel, Malted Milk, and one that is interestingly named He’s Not Worth It.

Heart-broken girls usually find comfort in a tub of ice cream and a bag of chips but the cups in front of me were only one-scoop servings. I pick up the mysterious cup and opened the lid. I see chocolate and caramel. I expected that. Chocolate stimulates your happy hormones. I have a taste and almost involuntarily, my eyes close and my mouth let out a satisfying moan from the intense creaminess of the rich dark chocolate that is infused with Oreo cookies, pecan, and swirls of thick caramel fudge.

I am intrigued by the two other flavors especially that I love Maltesers! Malted Milk is one of Carmen’s Best’s original flavors that is made with Horlicks and Maltesers. It is probably one of the best I have ever had in my life. I worked on it slowly, savoring each decadent bite. I had to force myself to leave some for my mom and sister. It was the most difficult thing to do.

Salted Caramel is Carmen’s Best’s bestseller. Other flavors include Brazilian Coffee, Butter Pecan, and Dark Chocolate.

Carmen’s Best uses 100 percent cow’s milk and cream fresh from the dairy farm of creator, Paco Magsaysay’s family in Laguna. What started out as a hobby has now turned into a lucrative business by popular demand and in 2013, the family established the only fresh milk processing plant in the country.

Carmen’s Best Ice Cream is very dense, very rich, and very creamy. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had such an experience. It may very well be one of the best premium ice cream out there. And while we will never truly know if “he’s really not worth it”, we certainly know Carmen’s Best is.
