Singles group in Cebu holds ‘speed dating marathon’
VALENTINE’S Day is right around the corner yet chances are you haven’t found a perfect partner for that special day. Cebu Singles, an organization for single Filipinas and single foreign gentlemen, offers a solution: speed dating.
Cebu Singles held the “Speed Dating Marathon” at Castle Peak Hotel last Jan. 30, the fourth such event that the group launched. So what is it exactly?
Though similar to a blind date, speed dating is a formalized matchmaking process whose purpose is to encourage people to meet a large number of people. Speed dating may sound silly for some, but it can be an avenue to find your one true love.
Here’s how Speed Dating Works:
* Men and women are both seated opposite to each other and have a three minute date.
* They ask each other random questions, share ideas, dreams, hopes, passions and more.
* With pen and paper, they take note of what the other person likes.
* When the whistle blows, the men move to another chair and talk with another lady for three minutes only. Men are the only ones who need to rotate. Since the speed dating will last for an hour, the men and ladies will meet around 20 or more new friends.
Organizers encourage singles to experience speed dating because they might just find the man or woman they’ll “spend the rest of their lives with.”
