LEOPOLDO Aguilar recently held a one-man exhibit, Shadow Fragments: A Premier Collection Series, at Qube Gallery, Crossroads in Banilad, Cebu City.
A consistent Joya Awardee during his students days at the University of the Philippines- Cebu, Aguilar is the founder of the Neo-Tribalism Movement, Inc., a group of artists who come together for exhibitions and performance art. He is now based in Manila, but he still finds himself coming back home every so often to show us how his art has been evolving.
Shadow Fragments, which is part of Qube’s Premier Collection Series and opened last Nov. 17, was inspired by silhouettes and anything that catches shadow. The distinctively linear strokes that the artist is known for are rendered in acrylic, graphite, and ink.
Apart from more than 20 wall-bound artworks, Leopoldo also showcased his installation pieces made of metal, wood, and stones. (PR)
