‘The Cebu We Know’: WILA celebrates 24 years
Women in Literary Arts – Cebu, Inc. (WILA) celebrated its 24th anniversary with the theme “The Cebu We Know” last Sept. 26 at the Sinulog Hall of the Rizal Museum and Library at Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City.
Organized on Sept. 25, 1991, WILA is the country’s only organization of women writers with a mission to promote literature. WILA conducts regular readings and literary workshops as well as other projects related to the arts.
The book “Bisayangdako: Writing Cebuano Culture and Arts” by founding member Dr. Erlinda Alburo was launched during the anniversary celebration. Published by the University of San Carlos Press, the book is a collection of essays that focus on a variety of topics such as Folklore, History, Literary Arts, Women Writing and others.
Vispop winners Jerica Teodorico and Lourdes Maglinte rendered beautiful prize-winning songs during the intermissions.
