The best in the land
Design, driving dynamics win it for Car of the Year Mazda 6
WITH little fanfare, the Mazda 6 was recently adjudged 2013-2014 Philippines Car of the Year by the Car Awards Group Inc. (CAGI).
The car company also won in three other categories: the Mazda 6 executive sedan as Executive Car of the Year, the CX-5 2WD PRO as Compact Two-Wheel Drive Crossover Wagon of the Year, and the CX-5 AWD as Compact All-Wheel Drive Crossover Wagon of the Year.

“This is the first time in CAGI’s 10-year history that the same nameplate was adjudged the Car of the Year Philippines twice,” said a press statement from Berjaya Auto Philippines (BAP) Inc., the distributor of Mazda in the country.
The Mazda 6 was feted the same award when it first entered the country in 2005.

“It is truly humbling to see our vehicles be declared the best in their respective categories,” said Steven Tan, BAP and Mazda Philippines president and chief executive officer, in the statement. “We accept the awards on behalf of the engineers, designers and the people who build them in Japan. Mazda products speak for themselves. Ultimately it is the customers who win.”
What bagged it for the Mazda 6 are its striking design and driving dynamics, as well as the power and fuel-efficiency the SKYACTIV chassis, drivetrain and engine technologies bring. (With PR)
