DOH: No vaccination of kids under 12 yet

THE Department of Health (DOH)-Central Luzon clarified on Monday, December 27, that the vaccination against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) of children under 12 years old has not yet started.
The agency said that as of the moment, preparations are still underway for the rollout of vaccines for the said age group.
“The National Covid-19 Vaccination Operation Center will announce the exact date as soon as Covid-19 vaccines suitable for ages 5 to 11 and its appropriate syringes become available,” the department’s advisory read.
While waiting for the actual rollout for the specific pediatric group, the agency advised parents and guardians to complete first their routine immunization to be protected from more contagious and fatal diseases such as measles, rubella, tetanus and diptheria.
The DOH is currently focused on jabbing individuals aged 12 and above with exception to those who have existing medical conditions.
As of December 24, DOH-Central Luzon reported that it has already given full immunization to a total of 5,713,140 individuals in the region.
The number is equivalent to 65.22 percent of the 70 percent of the target population in the region, the report added.
