2 Pinoy fighters set for One Championship in January

FILIPINO warriors Jeremy Miado and Robin Catalan are seeing action in ONE Championship’s first event of the new year –ONE—”Heavy Hitters” on Jan. 14, 2022, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.

Miado will take on former pro boxer Senzo Ikeda in the undercard. The 28-year-old Miado is coming off a huge second round knockout win over Chinese rival Miao Li Tao on Oct. 29, 2021, following a long layoff.

Ikeda, in the meantime, will make his return to the ONE Championship cage after more than a year of absence. The 39-year-old former Pancrase champion last saw action on Dec. 25, 2020, wherein he beat Liang Hui by unanimous decision.

Miado is 10-4 with five wins by knockout, while Ikeda is 12-6-1.

Meanwhile, Catalan will face Indonesian prospect Elipitua Serigar in curtain-raiser of “Heavy Hitters”.

The 31-year-old Catalan of the fighting Catalan family of Iloilo looks to return to the winning column after losing his last fight. He lost to Ryuto Sawada via a first round submission on Feb. 5, 2021.

On the other hand, Siregar is coming back from a two-year layoff. The 25-year-old Indonesian wrestling champion defeated Egi Rozten by a first round submission in 2019.

Catalan is 9-7, while Serigar is 4-1.

ONE – “Hard Hitters” will feature two world title fights.

ONE Women’s strawweight champion Xiong Jing Nan (16-2) will defend her belt against Japanese challenger Ayaka Miura (11-3) in the main event, while ONE light heavyweight kickboxing titleholder Roman Kryklia (46-7) will trade blows with Murat Aygun (17-1) in the co-main event.
