Covid-19 ‘blank’ in Angeles City

QUARANTINE hotel facilities are now empty and isolation rooms at the City College of Angeles are clear of patients as this highly urbanized city of Angeles went “blank” and recorded no Covid-19 cases for five days in a row from December 17 to December 22, 2021.

Alfie Maniti, head nurse at the community isolation units, said the last patient at the hotel quarantine facility was already discharged Sunday, December 17.

“As of now po, wala na rin pong naka-admit sa mga hotels natin. For almost a month po, ganito na ang sitwasyon natin, wala na pong naku-quarantine,” Maniti said.

This was also confirmed by City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, who said there are no quarantined individuals at the designated facilities.

Guevarra added that once there are patients for quarantine, the facilities will be available and operational.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., meanwhile, stressed the steady decline of Covid-19 cases through the intensive vaccination drive of the City Government, composed of 400 working staff led by IC Calaguas, his chief adviser and the chief implementer of the city’s vaccination program.

Lazatin is also reminding his kababayans to strictly observe safety health protocols against Covid-19 this holiday season, which was also echoed by Guevarra.

“Ang hakbang po na ginagawa ni Mayor Lazatin ay parte po ng patuloy na pag-iingat para sa kaligtasan po ng mga Angeleños. Strict compliance po nang sa gayon, hindi rin tayo mapasukan po ng bagong variant ng Covid,” Guevarra said.

The City Health Officer is also encouraging Angeleños and non-residents to get vaccinated.

Angeles City is one of the 23 highly urbanized cities in the country to achieve population protection as announced by Department of the Interior and Local Government last December 7. (JTD)
