CAR lovers and enthusiasts gathered during the Negros Family Weekend 2021 in Barangay Alegria, Silay City last week prior to the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.

Organizer Ryan Saez said their event highlighted a car, motor and off-road show that featured the best rides in Negros.

Negrenses are known as car enthusiasts who splurged for their cars even if it’s brand new or old model but branded and stylish.

This event is for this community of car lovers to help them stimulate their enthusiasm for cars, he said.

Likewise, the organizer blended the car show with a grand food fest which featured some of Bacolod and Negros’ favorite flavors.

A concert was also held but in a socially-distanced set-up where some of the biggest local bands in Negros such as The Scopes, Project Orange, And, Mighty Hillamoon and Gadfly have performed.

This event is in partnership with Silay City Government through Mayor Mark Golez.

The organizers thanked them for the support and this will not have been possible without them.

The city government spearheaded the safety and security implementation; to ensure that the event was protocol compliant, and the execution of the event was smoother.

The Philippine National Police, the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, the Bureau of Fire protection, the medics and the Coronavirus disease Task Force team were also deployed at the event area.

“My goal for holding the Negros Family Weekend was to challenge myself to organize event in a bigger venue with multiple events to create something unthinkable in the midst of the pandemic,” Saez said.

“At the same time, the bigger purpose is to create a benchmark for our event peers, LGU, and fellow suppliers that we are ready to do this again and everyone can start doing so also,” Saez added.

Aside from that, the event was done to open the platform again for those who are in the music industry who miss the big stage.

“(The event is) ultimately and always, (will) be reminded that it is to glorify God and showcase His greatness through the things we can accomplish because of His faithfulness, Saez stressed.
