On a Bellevue Bohol-iday

By Cassandra C. Poculan

Summer is ideal for getaways near or far. For a seriously serene seclusion that doesn’t take much travel time, The Bellevue Resort on the quieter side of Panglao, Bohol is one ideal retreat. With peerless privacy, you can go with absolutely nothing else planned and just stay in and enjoy the resort amenities. But for those looking to make the most out of their quick vacay, the resort can help fill those blank itineraries with cultural excursions, water activities, what have you. Here are some things you can do while at The Bellevue.

Book a suite with a sweet view.

Some people pay the least attention to accommodation when on a holiday. Sure, you won’t be spending a lot of time in your room as you’ll be out and about all day but having a plush bed to retire for the night and waking up to a spectacular view of the beachfront will make all the difference.
The Bellevue even has a pillow menu for your ultimate comfort.

Dine at one of its restaurants.

Its breakfast buffet at Lamian features several stations including breads and pastries and hot noodle soup. Laksa or pho done a la minute? Yes, please! Then there’s Marea for al fresco dining where you can savor the best of Bohol’s local specialties or even some international fare.

Go on a countryside tour.

Bohol has a languorous magic to it and no matter how many times you’ve been there, you’re still bound to find new attractions with every visit. It was my first time to go on a firefly watching cruise along the Loay river. Once we had polished off our dinner plates, the lights were turned off, leaving only the stars and the twinkling fireflies by the hundreds to illuminate the night sky. I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again — it was enchantingly beautiful.

Do an island hopping and eco kayak tour.

Clear waters, close contact with colorful marine life, it doesn’t get better than this. The Bellevue can arrange this tour for you and you’ll be off on one its speedboats in the morning and be back at the resort by lunch time. Go snorkeling with sea turtles on Balicasag island, explore Isola di Francesco and kayak along Bellevue’s own mangrove forest. The resort is an Asean Green Hotel awardee for its eco-friendly principles and sustainable practices.

Sign up for water sports activities.

There’s nothing like the outdoors to get you out of that slump. It doesn’t have to be an extreme sport to get a dose of adrenaline, you can do kayaking, stand-up paddling, fish-feeding, snorkeling, beach football, frisbee, anything under the sun — literally and figuratively. The Bellevue also offers Aqua Zumba at its infinity pool so you can somehow burn those holiday calories.

Check out the resort’s daily activities.

More recreational activities await both kids and adults at the resort. You can go on an organic farm tour or make your own dream catcher on a Monday and learn coconut leaf origami or shell crafts making the next day.

Catch a fiery sunset at the Luxury View Deck.

I haven’t seen a sunset I didn’t like but the ones on islands are particularly breathtaking. Go up The Bellevue’s Luxury View Deck for an unimpeded view of the Bohol landscape and of course, the sunset. It can also be booked for private soirees or for star-gazing.

End your day with a massage.

Nothing beats a soothing massage after a long day. But having Azurea Spa’s services in-room? Now that’s what vacations are for. You can book an appointment until 10 p.m., making it the perfect ending to an activity-filled day.
