My utmost quest - SunStar

My utmost quest

By Alexis Yap

THESE past few days have definitely been quite hectic, juggling hosting gigs and meetings, doing online research and writing, amongst other extra-curricular activities so to speak.

The invitation to stay at the Quest Serviced Residences was a welcome break I was definitely looking forward to. It was scheduled on a working weekend (which is usual for me) and I planned to just hibernate and catch up on some much-needed snoozing.

I checked-in to my spacious yet cozy one-bedroom before heading to my 5 p.m. call time and I couldn’t wait to just sink into the comfortable king size bed as soon as I finish working and succumb to oblivion from the bustling city 22 floors below.

I swung by the house after my gig since it was along the way. The plan was to shower and change into my pajamas so that I’d go straight to bed soon as I get to the residences. Next thing I know, it was 8 a.m. and I’m waking up from my couch, in my very own room at home.

Although I never made it to my planned weekend rendezvous, I was definitely going to make it to brunch. Or so I thought…

Brunch was at the 21st floor, at a beautifully designed two-bedroom unit complete with a furnished kitchen, a washing machine, a chic dining area and a cozy living room perfect for the planned horror-movie marathon right after. But before joining the group for brunch, I swung by my unit on the 22nd floor to check on my overnight bag and the untouched bedroom I had neglected the night before.

I lay on the bed for a bit and the next thing I know, it was 3 p.m.

The others had already left when I finally made it to brunch. Our gracious hosts are also good friends of mine so it was a great time to do some catching up. The coffee, omelet, and great company were the perfect cap to my weekend.

Recharged and refreshed, I was ready to take on the week ahead. I liked the energy of the place. It gave me the break I very much needed and deserved. I’d say my quest for a relaxing weekend was definitely achieved. What with almost 12 hours of accumulated sleep, a luxury not everyone can truly afford. Next time though, I’ll actually try to spend the night.

As the residences are part of the hotel, guests can seek the assistance of the Quest Hotel staff and have access to the hotel’s facilities like the swimming pool and the gym, the Pool Bar, the Bread Library, and the hotel’s signature restaurant Puso Bar and Bistro.
