Everybody wants to be beautiful. It’s a want that so many people seem to need. The beauty industry knows this demand and have been feeding us the products and regiments that would help us achieve healthy skin, which then equals to looking and feeling beautiful.
Therese Marie Borromeo, commonly known as Reese, has been an avid fan of beauty regiments and products ever since she could remember. To look and feel beautiful is a must for her. But with beauty comes a hefty price — it takes a lot of money and a high pain tolerance to achieve healthy and beautiful skin.
With the influx of skin care and slimming products, Reese got in the hype and sold affordable beauty products from Thailand and Korea online since 2014. But selling these products wasn’t enough for Reese. She wanted to have a place where women and men could enhance themselves without burning a hole in their pockets.
Reese decided to learn more about the beauty business. It is important for her to know the ins and outs so to always give her clients the best services she could offer. She took up an esthetics course at La Manille School of Esthetics and Wellness and went to various beauty expos to find out the best of the best in the esthetics world.
Then in early 2016, Reese opened her business, Beauty Affair Face and Slimming Hub. From her online business of beauty products, she grew to open a hub for individuals who seek to look and feel beautiful at an affordable price. Aside from facials and whitening treatments, Beauty Affair also had non-invasive slimming treatments that aim to enhance the shape of one’s body.
Reese’s passion for beauty drove her to open such a hub. “Many women want to undergo beauty and slimming services but can’t because of expensive prices, just like myself,” she said. “My goal is to make every woman look sexy and confident but at an affordable price.”
To feel sexy is what Reese aims to make her clients feel every time they go to her beauty hub. “I find power in sexiness. Beauty Affair represents a metaphorical representation of how each woman, regardless of shape, size and color, should feel sexy, satisfied and comfortable,” she said. “To feel sexy is to feel empowered and alive and to feel in control.”
But Reese’s passion for beauty isn’t only skin deep. She practices Muay Thai to keep her body healthy and fit. She is also a member of the Toastmasters International Cebu where she learned polished communication skills and proper speech delivery. With these, Reese found a kind of confidence in herself that makes her a well-rounded person. For her, it’s important to not just look beautiful, but to radiate beauty in all aspects: body, mind and soul.
Being a business owner at a young age of 26 can be daunting, but Reese finds value in humility. She recognizes that while she is new to the business world, she is able enough to steer her own boat and is willing to learn. “I am able to learn things from other people who know better than me. In every phase of my life, as well as in business, recognizing that I won’t be able to do things alone is a great reminder that there is greater success for everybody. I am always supporting my people in helping them achieve their dreams and to motivate them to keep learning every day,” she said.
Reese hopes to be able to make more women and men beautiful through Beauty Affair. She dreams of making her company big and have more branches nationwide.
Reese’s philosophy in life is “You reap what you sow.” She believes that what you get through hard work is never half baked. Her philosophy in life reminder for her that to build her own beauty empire means to do a lot of hard work, to always gain knowledge, keep refreshed through trainings and always build relationships with one’s clients. “To build an empire is to invest in one common effort and goal,” she said.
