Signet’s pop-up store offers glimpse of premium suits, silk ties and shoes

TRENDS come and go, and today’s hottest styles may be tomorrow’s last season’s. But a few clothing establishments offer more than mere stuff, transcending the ebb and flow of trends, establishments like Signet, arguably the Philippines’ top luxury menswear boutique.

Good thing that Signet has made its way to Cebu City, courtesy of Ayala Land Premier’s The Alcoves, which brought the newest offerings from the country’s purveyor of premium suiting and luxury goods to complement the high-end residential project’s distinctive living experience.

Launched last June 25 and 26 in the Ayala Land Premier Showroom at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu, Signet’s pop-up store offered a wide range of impeccable suits and jackets from Japan’s premium ready-to-wear brand Ring Jacket, as well as meticulously crafted handmade shoes by Carmina Shoemaker.

A group of classic menswear enthusiasts established Signet in 2014. Passionate and dedicated, Kelly See, Tom Sing, Edie Lim and Jason Qua put up the boutique with their clients’ best interest in mind, at the same time taking pride in their individually crafted top-quality products.

The Signet store is located at Windsor Tower, 163 Legazpi St., Makati City, although a permanent outlet here is being eyed. No doubt it’s time to bring the Signet trademark style in Cebu for good. In the meantime, here are quality menswear under the Signet brand that the stylish man can look forward to:

Ring Jacket

The suit is a man’s best piece of clothing, as it gives him an elegant look in important occasions such as weddings and business meetings. Signet, though, took suits to a higher level and introduced Ring Jacket, whose artisans have been creating in-house tailored clothing in the brand’s Osaka workshop since 1954. Each Ring Jacket suit is durable, wearable and 100 percent made of cashmere wool. It has see-through characteristics with classic designs, giving both style and comfort. Upon purchase, the end of the sleeves are unfinished, allowing the costumers to decide the right length and fitting. Customized jackets are available as well. Sizes range from 42-56.

Carmina Shoemaker

Any attire would not be complete without the perfect shoes, and perfection is Carmina Shoemaker. Founded by Jose Albaladejo in 1997 at the age of 60, Carmina Shoemaker represents 150 years of meticulous shoe making, a family tradition passed on from generation to generation. Each pair goes through a strict quality process and is handled carefully by a group of expert craftsmen in each stage of production. Committing to the brand’s philosophy of workmanship, Carmina acknowledges the differences of the materials used, making every shoe truly without equal.

Luxurious Ties

To add volume to any attire, ties can be the default answer. So, Signet also brought luxurious ties to add dimension to any piece of clothing. The best thing about their ties is that each piece is made of silk and it has no linings. It can even be compared to a scarf because of its light texture. Held in the air, it follows the flow of the wind. Two brands stand out: Tie Your Tie from Italy and Drake’s from London. (Nicole Delorino, UP Visayas Tacloban College intern)
