On a northern ferry

pink building
above orange cliff
looking monumental
but when the sun
comes down the site
to me becomes sentimental
as the breeze whiffs
some faded imagery
— a stupid balloon
a silly kite —
in and out of mind
I close my eyes
but all were out of sight
opening my eyes again
to the yellow-red sky
and dark green sea
there were brown boats
under the orange cliff
below the pink building
