Flavors that speak to me
IT WAS probably the hottest day in the middle of the rainy season when I received a reminder text from Jaja Rama to come and visit the Texas Creamery, an ice cream scooping station located at the SM City Cebu Northwing.
I was ready to head home at 3 p.m. to take a nice cold shower and relax for a bit when I decided to just head on to the mall for some rich and delicious Blue Bell Ice Cream, a very popular US brand of ice cream from Texas. I also wanted to go to see my very good friend and VP for marketing at Visfood Corp., exclusive distributors of Blue Bell in the Philippines, Ebe Puno. I haven’t seen her in a while and I was eager to catch up with her.
Although Blue Bell Ice Cream is available in most leading supermarkets nationwide, Visfood Corp. opened the Texas Creamery to make their delicious ice cream more easily available to its fans. It is also the perfect way to try several different flavors at a time.

Ebe made me try almost all the flavors like the Strawberry Yogurt, the Sea Salt Caramel, the Pistachio Almond, and the Strawberry Cheesecake, but three flavors surprisingly stood out for me that day: the White Chocolate Almond (Ebe’s Seasonal Favorite), the Birthday Cake (the staff recommendation), and the Coffee Toffee Crunch!
The White Chocolate Almond was so creamy and the almond bits were the perfect complement to its smoothness. The birthday cake was a very happy and delightful experience in the mouth. You can’t help but smile at every bite. It’s no wonder they call it the Birthday Cake!

I’m not a coffee fan when it comes to ice cream, but the Coffee Toffee Crunch was the flavor that “spoke to me” today. I told Ebe it was just heaven in a cup and it sure was a pleasant surprise. Maybe it was just what I needed to wake me up, the perfect pick-me-upper!
It was turning out to be such an enjoyable afternoon of conversation and creamy delights. I was happy to have met Ebe’s sister, Aina Sanchez, and cousin Jeff Puno. They are indeed a family of achievers with an honest passion for their business, being so particular with quality and service excellence. I always thank God for people like them who put effort to bringing world-class products and service to Cebu for the love of Cebuanos.
The Texas Creamery features different flavors at their scooping stations daily. I wonder what flavor will speak to me next.
