Lighting up the ‘Tree of Hope’ at the Marco Polo

THE Marco Polo Plaza held its ceremonial tree lighting event last Nov. 30. It signified the beginning of the hotel’s series of yuletide activities, but more than that, it also signified the start of the season of giving.

As tradition, the hotel put in place the towering and lavishly decorated ‘Tree of Hope,’ which patrons and guests can donate and decorate with a Christmas ball. Each ball is worth P200 and will go a long way in helping the hotel’s partner organization, the Kapuso Foundation in its relief operations in the communities affected by recent calamities.

The theme for this year’s tree lighting was the Magic of Christmas. Favorite fairy tale characters came to life as Cebu Centre for Dance brought a beautiful ballet presentation featuring famous fairy tale princesses. Maricris Garcia of GMA TV Network serenaded during the special event, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus also made a special appearance where kids had their photos taken with them.

The hotel will accept Tree of Hope donations until Jan. 5. For inquiries, call 253-1111 or visit (marcopoloplazacebu.com). For real time updates, like their Facebook page at facebook.com/marcopolocebu or follow them on Twitter at @5StarInCebu.
