Paws and poses
THIS one deserves a high-five of paws and palms. One of the highlights of the recent 2nd annual BTC Pawpalooza festival was a photo exhibit of Cebu personalities and pet advocates with their fur babies.

Called Pawsonalities, the event at pet-friendly mall Banilad Town Centre (BTC) featured fashion designers Oj Hofer and Jun Escario, Mutya ng Pilipinas president Jacqueline Tan, fashion blogger Kym Maitland-Smith, student and athlete Mark Lotzof, chef Gayle Urgello-Cheok, nurse Love Quitevis, and entrepreneur and tri-athlete Louie Villacin. Also featured were Cebu Veterinary Doctors (CVD) owner and veterinarian Dr. Odysseus Camarillo, student Julian Cobonpue, TV5 station manager Karla Kintanar-Fernandez, and PBA Hall of Famer and four-time PBA All Star “El Presidente” Ramon Fernandez.
“We are honored to be able to feature some of Cebu’s notable personalities and tie up with organizations such as the Island Rescue Organization (IRO), Cebu Shih Tzu Club and Cebu Chihuahua Club to highlight the importance of responsible pet ownership and thrilled to have this annual fun gathering of loyal pets and their loving humans to promote pet-friendly facilities in the city,” said BTC mall administrator Kyle C. Kokseng.

Also at Pawpalooza, free consultation and vaccination services were given to over 100 pets courtesy of CVD, one of the mall’s tenants. Pet owners also enjoyed and learned from the basic tricks demonstration given by dog trainer Chad Badinas.
A Halloween fashion show and contest organized by the Cebu Shih Tzu Club and Cebu Chihuahua Club gathered contestants and their pets decked out in different costumes — with John Philipp Wee and Juliet Soon emerging as winners.
