SAN Simon town, Pampanga has already achieved the population protection level against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
This was announced by Acting Mayor Leonora Wong on Monday, December 20, 2021, saying the local government is nearly finished in vaccinating the eligible population in this town.
The Department of Health said a community needs to vaccinate at least 70 percent of its population to achieve population protection.
In Arayatt, Wong said some 53,000 individuals out of the 56,000 population have already been either partially or fully vaccinated.
She said the Rural Health Unit have already started going house-to-house to cater to persons with disabilities and bed-ridden individuals.
She also said booster shots are already being given to eligible individuals who completed their waiting time after getting fully immunized.
“Target namin mabakunahan, kung kaya hanggang booster, iyong mga eligible na residente or iyong 12 years old pataad bago matapos 2021 para masalubong namin ang Bagong Taon na mas ligtas at masaya,” Wong said.
Aside from achieving population protection, residents have another reason to celebrate this holiday season as their town is also Covid-19-free.
For several days now, San Simon is one of the the municipalities in Pampanga that has zero active Covid-19 cases.
