This was the reason that Golden Cowrie and Hukad launched a nationwide campaign called Kwentong Salu-Salo where patrons share their stories and experiences while eating at the said restaurants. From over a hundred photo and video entries submitted by diners nationwide, nine stories were handpicked and were given P10,000 worth of gift certificates from Golden Cowrie and Hukad.

Of the 9 winners, 1 was able to visit Hukad at Ayala Terraces last Oct. 6 while 2 representatives of the winners also joined: Michelle Perdez Talaboc, Mailene Fontillas, attending for Jeanne Fontillas, and Mark Cañete, attending for Crystal Marie Cañete.

The top prize went to Angelica Navarro’s comedic tale during a dinner out with her workmates at Hukad SM Lanang. The Instagram video showed how Angelica’s workmate, Mon, mistakenly used the serving fork in carving out a portion of the crispy pata instead of using the knife.

According to Kenneth C. Kokseng, Golden Cowrie and Hukad General Manager, it was the genuineness of the experience that set the video apart from the other entries. “The Filipino values of close family ties, dining together with loved ones, and of course, the Pinoy concept of fiesta were highlighted in the chosen entries,” he said.

Celebrating over 30 years of Cebuano hospitality, value and flavour, Golden Cowrie and Hukad now have 21 branches nationwide. For more information, visit their website at www.alwaysafeast.ph or like their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/hukadgoldencowrie.
