Beads on Sandals
TODAY, my friend Henry Octobre introduced me to Heth, Jill, and May. Three very nice people who decided to put together a business with a “beaded” heart.
They greeted me with a huge smile and a bag full of hand-made, beaded sandals both for men and women. I was overwhelmed by the number and variety they showed me. Crystals, beads, and stones of all colors, shapes, and sizes were strung onto sandal thongs and straps.
All of their products are designed by Heth himself — a nurse-turned-footwear designer whose creative juices flow endlessly. Hence, the myriad of over 65 designs on men’s and women’s sandals as of this writing.
May and Jill are sisters whose main roles in the company are marketing and sales. Their goal is to market their sandals mainly to the US and Europe through online stores. In the months to come we will be seeing kiosks of their brand in malls all over the Philippines. I’m excited not just because some of the stones being used to embellish the sandals have health benefits, you get to create your own pair and let your creativity run wild!
Their brand is called Bai, a Filipino-American Company based in Cebu that not only believes in equal opportunity employment, but also in providing a comfortable and safe working environment for its workers.
About fifty percent of their employees are LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered), and when their business grows, they wish also to employ persons with disability.
