Music Fix

WHAT is life without music? Music is everyone’s therapy for everything, whether in good times or in bad. It has become a universal language that speaks for us when words can’t. Cebu is lucky to have such a dynamic music scene where people can connect and simply have a good time. If you’re one of the avid music lovers, you might want to check out these three places within the Queen City of the South, for who knows, you might discover your new favorite band along the way.
Cubana
Situated within one of the liveliest streets in Cebu where entertainment can be best enjoyed every night with friends is Cubana, a place where smart musicians and smart listeners meet. Cubana is well-known for its pizza party thrown every night combined with good music played by their guest live bands. This pub is a great place for you and your friends to unwind after a long day at work and just enjoy each other’s company over pizza, drinks and music, of course. With their alfresco setting that makes for a relaxing night ahead, you and your friends are sure to end the day on a lively note.
Cubana is open daily from 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. while live bands start playing every evening from 9 p.m. till late. They are located in Manros Plaza, General Maxilom Avenue, Kamputhaw, Cebu City.
Handuraw Pizza
Undeniably the destination of choice when you’re in the mood for some good local music is Handuraw Pizza. Aside from being known for their tasty thin crust pizzas, Handuraw is also home to local artists and musicians. Handuraw has always been supportive of local music and the arts — giving these people a venue to showcase their talents and admiring passion. An events cafe and pizza place all rolled into one, but with other extensive offers in their menu such as rice meals, pica-pica, salads, Beer Below Zero beers, and a whole lot more is just what Cebu needs. Handuraw Pizza is more than just a restaurant but has now become a place where people from all walks of life unite through music and the arts.
Handuraw Pizza’s main branch is located at the ground floor of Mango Square Mall and is open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. They also have branches in JY Square Mall and White Gold Club, open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. respectively.
MAC Rock N Roll & Blues Restobar
MAC Restobar hosts Cebuano talent as well as bands from other parts of the country. On Wednesdays, guests can also avail of the unlimited cocktails promo so they can enjoy a drink or ten while jamming to the featured performers of the night.
The restobar is located in Ezone, F. Cabahug St., Mabolo, Cebu City and is open daily from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Draft Punk Brewers & Skewers
From tribute nights, all-vinyl sets, to ukulele evenings and all the rock, hiphop, dub, house, reggae, or funksoul in between, Draft Punk is arguably the hippest chill-out place in town. The music at Draft Punk goes best with their Southeast Asian comfort food selection, specialty skewers, and sizzling plates, then paired with local brews.
Draft Punk is located in Mango Square along Juana Osmeña St., Cebu City and is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
