AUTUMN/WINTER collections may not seem to have a place in Uwan/Init Philippines, but substitutions for lighter material, avoiding overtly warm items and creative combinations allow for a nod to the ever-so-slight yearend chill. There is also the option of just wallowing in air-conditioned spaces which I personally am wont to do.

For this quarter’s set, Topman experiments with shape and silhouette in an exploration of modern street culture and retro sportswear spread across key trends – all in more tropical weather friendly availabilities. Across all these is the anti-fit, a change of direction for years previous that featured highly tailored garments that fit close to the body which has now changed for an oversized approach.

Check Mate

Accents of spiced and rich colors form the basis of the palette with neutrals and darker tones.

Upscaled and oversized checks are vital as in this tricolor plaid long-sleeved button front. Worn with this cozy and slightly oversized woolen jacket in dark teal, these volume shape charcoal side pipe smart joggers complete the Check Mate. Knitted patterns clash may also with floral prints create a fusion of layered textures. Oversized florals and rich, ornate prints are also essential for shirting.

Terrace Boys

Here their new muscle fit polo shirt in rose is paired with short shorts in ochre. Form is contrasted with a dark green, oversized coach jacket for the Terrace Boys look. Color blocking is a key feature in this trend. Silhouettes are refreshed with fuller and cropped fits while paying homage to retro team sportswear.

Youth Clash

Mixing subcultural references, Youth Clash focuses on individuality through styling. Patterns are all prominent to include plaids and stripes. These trousers in shadow-check take a step back from sharp tartan in darker, more subdued tones. Burgundy and navy stripe waffle-textured jumper come in contrast and nonchalantly hinting at the upcoming holidays. High-top classic sneakers or sleek ankle boots take it from casual to dressy. Jacketing in cocoon-layered silhouettes is also key.
