‘Shopaholic to the Rescue’ – Fiction by Sophie Kinsella
BECKY Brandon (nee Bloomwood) is back in “Shopaholic to the Rescue,” and she’s on a mission.
The latest addition to this light-hearted series by Sophie Kinsella finds Becky, with friends and family, on a road trip from Los Angeles through the American West to find her dad and the husband of Becky’s best friend, Suze. (Maybe Suze isn’t her best friend anymore. They’ve had a falling-out, and Becky hasn’t been able to make things better.)
Her dad left a note saying he was going on a “little trip,” which sets things in motion. Everyone piles into an RV — including Becky’s 2½-year-old daughter, Minnie, and her husband, Luke — to find out what this “little trip” is all about.
Meanwhile, Becky has lost her love of shopping. “Come on, focus on the souvenirs,” she tells herself as she wanders through a store in Las Vegas.
This latest addition to the series lacks some of the zip of previous “Shopaholic” novels — perhaps because Becky seems to be maturing. Still, fans will enjoy this little road trip as Becky, friends and family make plans for the next chapter in their lives. (AP)
